Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Unity and an "Chart Upset"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians this festive season. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians
The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the benefit event, which successfully generated a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The track showcases a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have clarified that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a spokesperson commented. “We will pursue as much as possible. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. It all goes out to Gaza.”
The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a vast majority of property reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.
“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”
The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
