Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak came to an end by Sunderland before the global hiatus, but will the English top division leaders recover against local foes Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, the new release, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend football side," he said.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member told me to select Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely score again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of last month.

However I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good result, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
