Renowned Performer Pat Finn, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who appeared in popular television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family stated in a announcement.
They added that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific Television Career
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several hit series, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
He was most recognized for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
Off-Screen Life
Away from his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was a member of a six-member improv team known as Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners during his career and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.
Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
